Knowledge, Desire and Power

Knowledge, Desire and Power - do they lead to AFFLUENCE?

We’ve all heard the terms:

Knowledge is Power

Ignorance is Bliss

The Rich get Richer and the Poor get Poorer

Do you see any connections in these phrases?

Upskilling and continuous learning does increase your mind's ability to problem solve. You only need to look around and see who is paid well for what they know. However, knowledge alone cannot create wealth. You must APPLY what you learn in order to see real results. Then convert that applied knowledge to power within you for constant improvement.

Staying ignorant to what is possible is much the same as an ostrich with its head in the sand - eventually you need to bring your head out to move on and that's when the winds of change can hit you hard. Staying ahead of change means you don't stay ignorant to what is unfolding around you but that you take time to look around and reassess your perspective, challenge your thinking and critically problem solve.

There’s lots of talk and predictions of a recession.

If you're concerned about a recession and its effects, start asking yourself better questions like:

  • What skills or abilities do I need to stay ahead of a recession?

  • Where do I need to level up in both myself and my business?

  • What problems would my target market face in a recession and how can I help alleviate those problems? (become the "go-to" solution provider)

  • What opportunities are coming or are out there right now that I can take advantage of?

  • Who do I need to get involved with now that can help me through any economic hardship facing my business?

  • When will I put time aside in my diary to plan and assess any risks ahead of me?

Failure Mode and Effects Analysis

How about doing what the big boys at GM, Ford and Chrysler Motors do when assessing problems and use the "Failure Mode and Effects Analysis" on your solutions.

Simply start by brain storming and writing down ALL the solutions you can think of to the issue or challenge that you are facing - don't discard any - just brain dump them all down.

Next, for every solution you've written down ask yourself "if that solution failed what would be the effect?" It's simple but incredibly effective. It means you don't discard any solutions first off as you will be assessing them in depth with the FMEA process. It also allows your brain to become more creative as you don't stop to assess any solutions - they all just flow out one after another.

Finally, apply your solution and test it out. If you’ve used your brain effectively, you will have many solutions to choose from. A bit like arrows in your bow and arrow kit, you can choose another arrow if the first one doesn’t hit the mark.

Where there's a will there's a way. Creating affluence starts with you. Happy problem solving!
