Let’s Get Real…
There I was in a great leadership role in beautiful Southwest Florida managing a lovely team of women who I had the privilege of not only leading but having fun with every day. The catch was, I had not 1 but 4 bosses! I’ll come back to that in a moment.
I’m Jen Myers - one of your 90 Day Divas.
All I wanted was to spend my days leading and building relationships with my team and strategizing ways for them to be more successful! Because when THEY won, we all won!
On the outside, my role looked amazing. But the reality was, I was slowly beginning to resent 2 of my 4 bosses. Because these two didn’t understand how to be inspiring, collaborative leaders. They operated out of insecurity and used intimidation and fear to get what they wanted. And THAT was making my life miserable. And to make matters worse, one of these was a misogynist – but he always had a big smile plastered on his face, so many people had no idea.
Then one day it hit me that I was sick of being told what to do and made to feel small and incompetent. I KNEW there was something MORE out there for me.
AND – during this same time, I had a little side hustle going where I ran large events for professional women to learn and connect. After one particular event, an attendee came up to me and said, ‘JEN – I just need to let you know that this organization has changed my life!’
Wow. Talk about a goose-bump moment!
THAT WAS IT! I was sold on the idea of doing something with my life where I could make a real positive difference to people and use my unique strengths of being able to communicate and lead to do it!
As fate would have it, my little family moved from the United States to New Zealand during this time, so THIS WAS MY CHANCE to escape the corporate strait-jacket, re-invent myself and follow my purpose!
Don’t get me wrong – I was scared to pursue something so new in a place where I knew no one and had ZERO friends or business contacts! But, I relied on the guidance of a coach to train and become certified as a business coach and then, a few years later, as a leadership and communication coach - and I haven’t looked back!
Now I’m serving clients all over NZ and the world in not one but TWO businesses and adding value to my clients in more ways than I can measure.
